Friday Findings – ClipMagic.com

 ClipMagic is a Time-Saver

 What is Clipmagic?

Do you know what a clipboard is? The clipboard is the part of your computer’s memory that holds something you have copied until you paste it on something else. The  problem with this is, it only holds one thing at a time, so you can’t access anything you copied previously.

So, I have done some research. There are many programs available which act as extenders to the clipboard – they store everything  you copy so you can access them at a later date.

I never knew these programs existed, to tell you the truth. Only found out about them when researching where to find the  clipboard.

Today’s Friday Finding is a program called ClipMagic. This, to me, is simple to understand and use.

ClipMagic 4 works on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 and Windows 8.

They host many instructional videos which will have you copying and pasting in no time.

The Good Stuff about ClipMagic

I downloaded the free trial and followed the instructions in the video – so simple.

For me, I can see the following benefits:-

*** There is a free trial version and when you have trialled and are ready to buy, it will cost you US $14.99.

*** Time saving – When I paste something onto notepad or a Word document, I have to keep going backwards and forwards to the  original document to copy and then keep switching back to the notepad to copy. Then I have to remember to save at each step. This can be time-consuming.

***  Also stores URLs for quick retrieval.

***  With the PastePicker set up correctly, the copy and paste procedure is much simpler. You just copy the selected text and it  automatically copies straight to whatever document is open at the time. You can copy and paste single words, sentences or whole pages.

***  Great for accessing frequently used text such as your signature.

***  Can apply Hotkeys. Being able to assign hotkeys to frequently-used text speeds things

up  even  futher.

– Right click on clipboard entry/ choose  properties/ assign hotkey/ select your preference/ press OK

– Simply copy your signature into ClipMagic and you can retrieve it with the use of the hotkey.

***  You can easily find the URL from which you copied the text

– highlight the clip/ look for launch button above – blue globe icon/ click on that and up will

come  the site you want.

***  You can categorise your clips for easy finding later.

***  Can also store images.

Now, there are many more great features available. These are just the ones I am discovering at the present time.

If  this new tool interests you, pop on over to www.clipmagic.com and get a free trial.

Hi Liz i never really thought about using something like this before but i will do some research of my own now, i often find i clip something then go to paste it and i have copied something else before i have got around to adding the original clip :-(

    • Liz Delaney July 26, 2014 at #

I know Dexter. I never knew about these programs either. It is only when I went in search of my clipboard, that I came across them. I usually paste onto a word document for safekeeping.
Hope you enjoy your own research.

This sounds like a great little program, Liz.

I typically use Notepad or Evernote, but like you point out, it requires a steady back and forth, copy/paste method.

Clip Magic seems to solve that problem.

Thanks for the nice tip… should improve my productivity, for sure.

    • Liz Delaney August 9, 2014 at #

Anything that is useful, free or low cost and a time-saver is terrific David. Hope it helps.
Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated.
      Take care

Who knew? You did Liz!! Thanks for the great tip on this handy tool. I use a Word.doc to hold some frequently ‘said’ things, but this seems really handy!

    • Liz Delaney August 12, 2014 at #

It is a great little tool, Dawn. I have been using it for a couple of weeks and I find that it is important to have it set up correctly first or it can be a bit painful.
Hope you find use for it Dawn.

Liz, this sounds like a great tool, finding these type of tool is really useful. Anything that improves productivity! Does this work on the MAc?

    Many thanks, Andy

    • Liz Delaney August 12, 2014 at #

I guess it probably does work on a Mac Andy. It is a Windows Clipboard extender, so if you use Windows on your Mac, then it should be OK. The free trial would be worth a shot to see if it works for you.
      Good luck
      Liz

This sounds like a great tool to have. I’ve never been able to FIND the clipboard on my computer, let alone use anything that’s on it.
